چکیده
conclusion using standard imaging parameters, each mri sequence reaches its maximum si in a specific contrast concentration, which is highest in se and least in ir in a comparison between se, fse and ir sequences. results this study shows that maximum si will appear at different ranges in different sequences. the maximum si can be seen at concentrations of 5.95, 4.96 and 3.98mmol/l for se, fse and ir, respectively. background mri is not able to directly measure the concentration of contrast agent. it is measured indirectly from the signal intensity (si). it is very important to know how much contrast agent should be injected to receive a maximum si in the region of interest (roi). objectives the aim of this study was to investigate the maximum relationship between contrast concentration and signal intensity (si) on t1-weighted images using spin echo (se), fast spin echo (fse) and inversion recovery (ir) sequences. materials and methods to assess the relationship between si and concentration, a water-filled phantom containing vials of different concentrations of gadolinium dtpa (gd-dtpa) (0 to 19.77 mmol/l) or a constant concentration (1.2 mmol/l) of contrast agent was used. the vials of constant concentration were used to measure coil nonuniformity. the mean si was obtained in the roi using t1-weighted images. all studies were carried out using a 0.3 t clinical mr scanner with a standard head coil.

متن کاملMR evaluation of vertebral metastases: T1-weighted, short-inversion-time inversion recovery, fast spin-echo, and inversion-recovery fast spin-echo sequences.
PURPOSE To compare the detectability of vertebral metastatic disease on T1-weighted, short-inversion-time inversion recovery (STIR), fast spin-echo (FSE), fat-saturated FSE, and inversion recovery FSE (IRFSE) MR sequences using percent contrast and contrast-to-noise ratios. METHODS Patients with proved metastatic disease underwent imaging on a 1.5-T MR system with sagittal T1-weighted (800/20...
متن کاملThe effect of inversion times on the minimum signal intensity of the contrast agent concentration using inversion recovery t1-weighted fast imaging sequence
Background :Inversion recovery (IR) pulse sequences can generate T1-weighted images with a different range of inversion time (TI) to suppress or null the signal intensity (SI) for a specified tissue. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of TI values on the concentration of the contrast agent, which leads to a minimum signal intensity, using an inversion recovery T1-weighted 3-dim...
متن کاملEffect of Echo Time on the Maximum Relationship between Contrast Agent Concentration and Signal Intensity Using FLAIR Sequence
Introduction Contrast-enhanced fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) is one of the MRI sequences that can be used for detection and evaluation of pathological changes in the brain. In this work, we have studied the effect of different echo times (TE) on the maximum relationship between signal intensity and concentration of the contrast agent using the FLAIR sequence. Materials and Methods...
متن کاملComparison of Fast Recovery Fast Spin Echo and Conventional Fast Spin Echo for T2 Weighted Imaging of the Prostate Gland
Introduction The FRFSE sequence is a modification to the standard FSE sequence in which additional RF pulses are used to accelerate recovery of longitudinal magnetization after the echo train is acquired. The sequence can provide enhanced fluid signal in the setting of short TR for joint imaging. We compared this sequence to standard FSE using a long TR for axial endorectal coil T2 weighted ima...
